Kiwanis Club Lugano was founded on Novembre, 27th 1965, with patentclub Kiwanis Lucerne and Kiwanis Basel.

Kiwanis Lugano is the first in Ticino and the first in Italian language all over the world.

The first committee was chaired by dr. Franchino Agostino. Leaded by the motto "we build", the first thirteen members immediately started to work, to help needing people, developing also deep feelings of friendship.

After 40 years, the Kiwanis Club Lugano has distinguished himself in promoting numerous charitable initiatives, including the ‘Christmas Lunch’, in collaboration with the City of Lugano and Guido Marcheggiani’s kitchen staff.

Until 1988 also Kiwanis Lugano, as all the other clubs worldwide, accepted only men as members.

Today, Kiwanis Club Lugano is composed of 24 members: 21 men and 3 women.
